Rho Tang is a Chinese-born American contemporary jewelry artist based in Beacon, NY. Rho approaches jewelry making through an exploration of spatial relationships; composing visual language by invoking elements such as repetition, juxtaposition, and hierarchy.
In Rho’s work the spatial vocabulary emerges from her understanding of contemporary architecture. Emotions arise from spatial perception through movement, interaction, and reflection. She aims to create spatial depth, stimulating cognitive connections with the existing and the surrounding. Integrating external elements such as light, shadow and motion, her work formulates visual dialogues between rigidity and flexibility, cohesion and transience, logic and intuition.
Rho obtained bachelor’s degrees in architecture and fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and a master’s degree in urban planning from Architectural Association in London. Her current series investigates the multifaceted concept of identity, focusing on the evolving roles of women in modern society, the complexities of navigating Asian identity in a Western context, and the notion of self-identity as an artist. Since 2018, Rho has exhibited work in art galleries and museums throughout Europe, Asia, and America. In 2025, her work was selected for Schmuck in Munich, Germany.
